The term "devil's work" refers to a Chinese technique in which jade jewelry is meticulously hand carved, often featuring seamless interlocking rings or lace-like cutouts that resemble filigree. The time consuming process requires great skill, and was therefore named "devil's work," as though human hands were incapable of producing such intricate work.

A fantastic pair of "devil's work" jade earrings from the Art Deco (ca1930) era! Each earring begins with a circular, 14k yellow gold surmount, which features a hand-carved Chinese symbol. Dangling from the surmount is a stunning circular jade hoop. Two additional jade hoops are interlocked within the top-most hoop, and are able to move freely. The jade exhibits a lovely rich green hue, and is additionally adorned with milky white marbling. The earrings secure with 14k gold screw backs, which are marked with a "14K" purity mark. A stunning pair of jade earrings from the Art Deco era, these hoop earrings would be the perfect addition to any collection!

Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 1 5/8" long, and each measures 3/4" at their widest point.

Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold details, jade hoops, or screw backs.
